MICHAEL SELLNER
Managing Director, General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer

Michael serves as Managing Director, General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of Mountain Capital. He started his legal career in 2015 and has extensive experience advising clients on numerous aspects of corporate law and M&A.

Prior to joining Mountain Capital, Michael was a Senior Vice President and founding member of the Houston office of Atlantic Global Risk, a specialty transactional insurance broker, where he was responsible for advising clients on all aspects of the placement of representation and warranty insurance policies in connection with mergers and acquisitions, primarily in the energy and infrastructure industries. His responsibilities also included the review and analysis of corporate transactional risks and negotiation and drafting of representation and warranty insurance policies.

Before that, Michael was a senior associate at Latham and Watkins LLP, where he advised a diverse group of both strategic and private equity clients on a wide variety of matters in the upstream and midstream oil and gas space, including mergers and acquisitions, asset acquisitions and divestitures, asset swap agreements, joint venture combinations and formation, drillcos, asset contributions and related operational agreements. Michael also advised clients on transactions related to restructurings, including numerous 363 sale processes.

Michael received his J.D. from Vanderbilt Law School where he served as the Executive Editor of the Vanderbilt Journal of Entertainment & Technology Law and was a member of Phi Delta Phi and the Christian Legal Society. Prior to attending law school, Michael graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Baylor University in Waco, Texas.
