Brian was formerly Chief Risk Officer and a member of the management committee of Citigroup joining the firm in February 2008, shortly after the Global Financial Crisis began. He retired in 2015 from Citigroup. At Citigroup, Brian managed a team in excess of 10,000 people across more than 100 countries for all global Risk, Strategy, Audit and Compliance. During this time, he led the transformation of Citigroup’s risk profile through a combination of setting strategic direction about which regions, businesses and assets would be supported, a wholesale change of personnel and working closely with Central Bank Governors, Ministers of Finance, and other global regulators.

Prior to joining Citigroup, Brian was co-Chief Operating Officer and Chief Risk Officer of Old Lane, an investment fund he co-founded in 2005. Old Lane was successfully sold to Citigroup in July 2007. Prior to Old Lane, Brian spent his entire career at Morgan Stanley where he led a successful proprietary trading business, culminating as the Risk Manager of the Institutional Securities Business reporting directly to its President. Brian was awarded Risk Manager of the Year two times in his career: the first for his work in restructuring the hedge fund LTCM and the second for his work in restructuring Citigroup after the Global Financial Crisis.

Brian earned a BA in economics from Brown University in 1981 and an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1985. Brian serves as a trustee of the US Ski and Snowboard Association, is on the Colgate University Endowment Management and Finance Committee, and is a Board Member of Athene Holding, Ltd.
